The Data Charrette has weekly meetups or meetings, which are scheduled at meetup.com/data-charrette. There are both online meetups and in-person meetups. Regardless of format, all of the meetups are designed to help all of the participants develop their abilities to serve through data science and analytics.
If you’re like me and you have a calendar that requires more attention than you like, then you’ll be glad to know that most of the Data Charrette meetups will be virtual or online meetups (AKA “imaginary,” “immaterial,” or “made-up meetups”). Many of these online meetings will consist of surveys, which will be administered online and from which we will share the data. At the time of writing, the online meetups will be scheduled for each Tuesday at 5 PM (although time takes a slightly different meaning with online, asynchronous events).
We’ll also meet in person like regular meetups (AKA “material world,” “habeas corpus,” or “make-it meetups”). Due to the Data Charrette’s organizer, Bart, being out of the country for most of the summer, we won’t have our first in-person meetup until August. We still need to determine the days and times to meet, which we can do with the online meetup surveys.
The Biannual Data Charrettes
Finally, the focal events of the Data Charrettes calendar are – of course – the Data Charrettes themselves, or the two-day, nonprofit service events that happen in the fall and the spring of each year. We will use the weekly meetups – both online and in-person – to help plan these events and to help prepare the volunteers and the nonprofit members.
